ONE WEEK is all it will take...

A week in Las Vegas and she will feel better about herself. At least that is what Dacotah Miller is hoping will be the case.

Left at the altar, heartbroken and ashamed, Dacotah takes the opportunity offered by her girlfriends - the chance to get away. The opportunity to escape her mundane life in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin.

But what Dacotah doesn't know is that lurking in Las Vegas is the chance of a lifetime, a dream come true, in the form of Derek Hunter.

Derek, in town on business, can't seem to focus on his purpose once Dacotah walks into his field of vision.    She beautiful and just what he needs to cure his desire for a good woman in his bed. Only she presents a challenge to him unlike anything he's ever experienced before.

Dacotah will be wrapped up in a whirlwind of unexpected events that will force her to make a decision, life changing choice. Does she get on the plane back to boring Wisconsin and wonder what might have been? Or will she step on board a private jet that promises to take her on a journey she will never forget?

Welcome Zoey, and thank you for taking time to chat with us!

Thank you SOOO Much Fabulous & Fun for sitting down with me today.

Why did you decide to become a writer?

I honestly cant say that I decided to become a writer exactly. I, like most authors, am an avid reader, and being a reader means that I love stories, and after reading more than 130 books in just a few months time, I decided that it was time to express my own imagination and the stories that have been bouncing around in my head for years. So I did. Then with several boosts of “this is really good” “You have to publish this” from friends and family, I decided that it was time to publish my book and it has all been a rolling adventure since then. I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Who/what are your writing inspirations?

I find writing inspiration in a lot of different things. Pictures tend to be the most inspiring because I want to make the stories of the people or places in them, come to life.

As far as who? There are a lot, but E.L. James and Jamie McGuire are truly the reasons why I got into reading and writing as much as I have over the last couple of years. There own stories of success and amazing writing has continued to inspire me throughout this journey. And I’ve been honored enough to meet both of these amazing women and tell them so.

What are your favorite genres to read?

Oh, I love all kinds of books. Romance, Erotica, and I am a huge Mystery/Suspense fan as well. Though I’m not sure I’d ever have the knack for writing anything like a Mystery novel, but I do enjoy reading them. I also like paranormal, who doesn’t love a good vampire story?

Favorite writing food / snack?

HAHA!! All writers have these right? It truly depends on my mood. Sometimes it is Babybel cheeses, M&M’s (especially the peanut ones), KitKats (Love LOVE the new MINI KitKats), coffee, mountain dew and monster energy drinks help get me through my day.

What do you hope readers take away most from your writing?

That there really is true love out there for everyone. I am a hopeless romantic. I have ideas and expectations far greater than any woman should (which is maybe why I’m single) and I like to hope that everyone has a chance to find their one and only (if of course, they haven’t already.)

Who’s the favorite character of yours that you’ve written and why?

Oh boy!! This is like asking a mother to pick their favorite child and it is nearly impossible to do. One minute I will tell you that Cami from the Love’s Wings Series is my favorite, because she is strong and independent. Then the next I will tell you it’s Vivienne from The Reason Series because she is strong, but willing compromise on her independence in favor of what is best for her. Then I will tell you it is Dacotah because well, she effin rocks. She’s real and she’s raw. So I guess I couldn’t pick on because I’ve only mentioned the females, and haven’t even tapped into the Men of my stories.

What is your writing style? Outliner/Planner or Seat of the Pantser?

I am definitely a Seat of the Pantser… I write what comes to mind, what flows inside my head because my characters, to me, are real. Every story I’ve written has been written via the characters in my head. Sometimes, in the editing process, I make adjustments to the events that happened in my head, by either eliminating them, or making them a little more interesting, and none of my characters seem to mind when I do that.

I have also been known to plan a little here and there, especially with some of my upcoming works that have a very detailed back history or lore to them. It is easier for me to plan them out so that I don’t miss anything, cover all my bases and have notes to refer to when I am dealing with their history in the story.

If someone wanted to become a writer, what tips would you give to them?

Never stop writing. When you think you’re done writing, write some more, then when you think you finally have your story all put together. Edit the crap out of it. Like any other entertainment line of business, artists need practice to perfect their craft, so writing is a writers craft and it needs to be perfected.

The bottom line is this… you can’t become a writer if you don’t write and if you don’t write, then you cant be a writer. (hopefully that makes sense). The writing is truly the easiest part, it is everything that comes after that makes it harder.

Have you ever purchased something from a late-night infomercial? If so, what?

HAHAHA! No, I cant say that I have. Though I have purchased stuff from the kids commercials (product of having a 9 year old who enjoys too much t.v.)

If you could collaborate with any other author (living, dead, or undead) who would that be and why?

Oh Boy – first would be Stiegg Larsson the author of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. That man was a genius.

As far as living authors are concerned… I would LOVE to work with Jenna Jacob because I would LOVE to write a story of a fresh, brand new sub, who walks into Genesis (Read the books if you haven’t already, they’re awesome)

I am sure I could think of a dozen more authors I’d love to collaborate with. It would be a true honor to do so, at some point.

If you weren’t a writer, what would you do?

Well I was a Mortgage Underwriter before I started down this whole author writer journey – so more than likely I’d be doing that…. **shivers** I’m happy right here! **giggles**

Coke, Pepsi, or?

Mountain Dew!

What’s one thing people should know and/or don’t know about you?

I’m pretty open about who I am, I don’t hide many things, especially when asked so I’m not sure there is much people don’t know about me. But one thing that comes to mind that I haven’t shared with many people, is that I was raised by a single mom, who is the most important and amazing person in my life. She is supportive of everything I do, and if she wasn’t, I’m not sure I could do this everyday. Love her to pieces.

Is there a character that has the most “You” in them? Or the opposite of you?

All of my characters have a little bit of me in them, it’s just a natural extension of my writing and I can’t quite help it. Though some definitely have more of me in them then others. For example, Cami from the Love’s Wings Series, I consider her my alter ego! **grin**

If we lived in a Fahrenheit 451 culture, which book would you want to memorize?

I think I’ve already memorized some books… Fifty Shades and Jenna Jacobs’ Doms of Genesis books. Great books stay with me for a very VERY long time!

Has anyone written a fan fiction based on your work?

Not that I’ve seen, but I would LOVE to read it.

Is Zoey Derrick a pen name? If so, why did you pick it?

Zoey Derrick is a pen name and I combined my favorite name with a favorite fictional character.

Thank you Fabulous and Fun for having me today, it was a blast and an honor. I cant wait to come back again! XXOO! Zoey

There are a few couples, walking hand in hand, and my stomach turns. A feeling of emptiness washes over me as I remember the way Jason and I were together back in our prime. We were always hanging on each other and we were never more than six inches apart when we walked anywhere.

But my musings about being lonely and single are cut off when a very well dressed man comes into my line of sight. He’s wearing a gunmetal grey suit, black shirt and silky black tie. His hair is dark brown, long and pulled back. His eyes are the same brown as his hair. He has a well-kept goatee, and a physique that makes my mouth water. I feel Rachel and Mandy nudge me, vying for my attention, but I can’t seem to pull my eyes away from him. Then he looks at me. Square in the eyes and I’m transfixed further by what I see. He’s not disgusted that I’m staring at him, actually there is a hint of intrigue in his eyes, but Rachel breaks it by pulling my arm. “Our table’s ready.”

I finally blink, breaking the trance and I know I blush as red as a cherry. I’m thankful for Rachel’s distraction.

Once we sit down, Mandy is quick to point out my distraction. “What was that all about?” Her question makes me blush again and I find myself hiding behind my menu. “Cotah?” She says like a mother scolding a child.

“Nothing, it was just…” How can I even describe the Adonis that I just saw?

“Him?” I look out from behind my menu at Rachel, who is looking toward the bar. I follow her line of sight and sitting at the bar opposite of us is him and I want to run away.

“Can we go eat somewhere else?” I breathe.
