Olivia has been on the run from the government of Cabal since the marriage ceremony. Finally settling in and finding herself a place to call home, in Shadow, Olivia and Joshua are preparing for the uprising that they and the rebel alliance have been planning for months.

With new abilities and special talents, from Mindonsiphan, Olivia learns that she can do more than most ordinary eighteen year olds. Learning both to hide and perfect her skills will be one of the biggest challenges she’ll be forced to face.

A constant rollercoaster of emotion and adventure await Olivia and Joshua, as they embark on a journey to the rebel city of Torv, and what was once home, Genesis.

mikesreview

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

We’re picking up 7 months after the events in the first book “Aberrant” and if you haven’t read it yet, then you should stop reading this so you don’t get spoilers from the first book.

Olivia and Joshua are still in hiding from the Cabal government and making a home in Shadow, the mysterious town and home to the special Mindonsiphan enhanced super soldiers. And planning for the rebel uprising and secret attack plans.

Now, the things that I enjoyed from the first book character-wise are still present. A strong set of characters, even more so because we get to see more of the other ‘recruits’. The world is still vivid and interesting. And the story really didn’t want to let me go as I needed to know what was going to happen next.

Here’s where I wish I could go into details, but since I don’t do spoilers I really can’t. You’ll have to draw your own conclusions on this but a lot of little details and things just came across as really odd to me. Characters motivations and reactions to the things going on just didn’t make sense, it’s like one of those 4D pictures I’m supposed to be able to cross my eyes and see another picture, but it’s just not working for me. Not that I didn’t enjoy this book, because I did, and I plan on reading the third in the series as well.
