Synopsis
When a tragic accident leaves Rhane Evans — lead vocalist for the rock band Fate’s Crazy — permanently unable to speak above a whisper and kills the love of her life, she moves across the state to pick up the pieces. Shattered, Rhane struggles to understand what happened the night of the accident, an accident everyone blames her for, even though she wasn’t driving the car.
Enter Ian Callahan. He’s the one person who may have a more tumultuous past than Rhane. Though they try hard to deny the sizzling attraction between them, it proves nearly impossible. When Ian’s troubled past threatens to tear them apart, they begin to believe happiness isn’t in their cards.
My Review
I received an Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for my honest review
“I Breathe You” was kind of a strange combination of several books I’ve read in the past. Part “What I Didn’t Say”, “Call Me Crazy”, “AnguiSH”, and a tiny smidge of “Feral Sins”. It’s a combination that worked out really well though as we take a wild ride along Rhane’s journey towards recovery.
If you’re the empathetic sort this one will put you through the wringer as it swings back and forth from funny and heartwarming, to tragic and heartbreaking at the drop of a hat.
I really enjoyed the characters who all have a great presence even if they don’t get anywhere near as much page time as they should *cough*emmy*cough*. And the chemistry between the core characters is fabulous. Rhane is as hilarious as she is heartbreaking, Ian is totally swoonable, Emmy is adorable, T & Gwen can banter like nobodies business. And if you don’t know who those people are.. Well duh, you need to go read the book!
“Go on and cry like nobody’s watching. I’ll be your rock.”
What I really didn’t care for though was a really abrupt transition from the very beginning of the book to where our story picks up. It made it difficult have a sense about how long it had been between the two parts of the story. Also there’s a lot going on in this book and I wish we were able to focus on some points of the story. But those are easily overlooked as you get caught up in the story.
