SYNOPSIS

From the author of The Oxbow Kingdom Trilogy comes a new fantasy adventure: Plea to a Frozen God.

Prince Ligo endured a troubled engagement. Betrothed to a foreigner to save a realm abandoned by their god, the prince suffers a seizure during a sacred hunt, and awakens to see his fiancée’s family usurp the volcano-menaced realm. Indeed, Prince Ligo has seen better days.

When the enigmatic Mystic Riggan rescues Prince Ligo from the deadly coup, she leads him on a pilgrimage to the cryptic God of Death’s secret sanctum. Fugitives in the frigid wilds, the beleaguered duo conscripts a badly wounded soldier to help them survive. Pursuing answers to what truly ails the realm, the misfit trio discovers more ancient mysteries at their journey’s end. They also find the beginnings of a home and family like none they’d ever known.

I truly enjoyed this book. The characters were engaging and well-developed, with each chapter labeled by character point of view and opening quotes. The story was filled with adventure and excitement, making it a must-read for fantasy lovers.

Mike's Review

Have you ever been so engrossed in a story that you couldn’t put it down, even when the ending left you wanting more? That’s exactly how I felt about Plea to a Frozen God.

The richly detailed world of Fiegardia drew me in from the very first page, and the cast of characters, like Prince Ligo and Swagger Fry were unique and engaging.

The plot was filled with a lot of tension and suspense with some interesting “old world” mystery that gave me Fred Saberhagen’s Book of Swords vibes and kept me guessing right up until the climax. However, the ending felt a bit flat with a lot of questions still out there. While this may not be a dealbreaker for everyone, it did leave me feeling slightly disappointed though hoping this is the beginning of a series so hopefully we get some answers.
