SYNOPSIS
It’s the worst day of Charlie Everson’s life. Not only can she no longer fit into her clothes—disaster for any public relations director—but also her first love, the sexy super-successful Brian Tendai, is her new CEO, the last person she ever expected to run into. Seeing him again tumbles Charlie back into her past. There are still so many unanswered questions: he’s convinced she left him, she’s convinced he left her. Charlie minimizes the ‘ex’ factor. Tell that to her emotions that are running wild.
But Brian’s not there to rekindle their romance. He’s overseeing Queenswood Communications’ recent merger after a hostile takeover. Guess whose name is at the top of the list?
They agree to one night together, just the one, then it’s back to business as normal. Or is it?The Joy of Comfort Eating is a contemporary romance novel set in cosmopolitan Johannesburg.

Shelley’s voice prattled on. “I looked him up on Google. Bit like a younger Idris Elba; dark and mysterious. If I had to go for a black man, it would be him. He’s gorgeous.”
Gorgeous. Beyond gorgeous. Infinitely, edibly gorgeous.
Charlie shrugged as they headed for her car. “If you like that kind of thing. Which Woolies? The garage one, or a proper one?”
“A proper one. I think he’s single.”
“I’ll alert the media.”
“I can’t wait to get a one-on-one with him.”
Charlie glanced at her housemate, all swishy bob and slender thighs. “I’m sure you will. I’m hungry.”
“You’re always hungry. Do you think he’s been married before?”
Charlie adjusted herself into her car, the denim straining at the stitching. Shelley removed a pile of papers off the passenger seat before sliding in beside her. A sharp shove on the accelerator roared the car to life.
Shelley continued. “I wonder what type of woman he’d marry. Probably beautiful, refined, a certain class. You can just tell with certain guys.”
Or not. Never underestimate Brian Tendai.
Yeah, today—definitely going to be the worst day of her life.
