A Little Bit of R&R is one of the first blogs I found online shortly after beginning a dive into the wonderful online world of Indie Authors. And when the head honcho Ren’s not scrambling to pimp out Authors left and right, and share all things bookish, you’ll often find her helping out fellow bloggers. – Mike

Ren over at A Little Bit of R&R was willing to answer a few questions for us;

What led you to start blogging?

Well there’s really no short explanation but I’ll try my best. I wasn’t always a reader (shocker!) I started reading in 2011 after picking up Evermore by Alyson Noel and finishing half the book while I was waiting for my car to be fixed. I immediately picked up the rest of the series and couldn’t stop there. My co-worker suggested that I start a blog to share the books that I have read. I didn’t even know what a blog was. I wanted everyone to know about these books that held me up when I needed it the most.

What do you love most about blogging?

It used to be about the books but it has grown into something much bigger. I love talking with other book bloggers, readers, and authors. It’s like a huge family of book lovers that I would have never had the chance to know otherwise.

What do you hate about blogging (or love least, if hate is too strong for you!)

Trolls! They are on both sides of the fence. It gets to the point where people are throwing the word “bully” around but it never stops there. It sometimes gets to the point where the name callers are becoming the bullies themselves. When you give negativity a voice, it thrives. People shouldn’t give in to stuff like that… just ignore it.

You’re stuck in an elevator with one author, who is it!?

Oh man! I’d have to say Christy Foster! She’s such a rad chick and we have so much in common.

What’s one thing people should know and/or don’t know about you?

I’m a jack of all trades. I love to do so many things and if I don’t know how to do it I’ll teach myself. Everything in life is trial and error and I like to fill it with things that I enjoy. I don’t let fear of the unknown hold me back.

Obviously you kind of like books. But TV? What are some of your favorites?

I’m not that big on TV. I watch Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Star-Crossed, Revenge, True Blood and I think that’s it LOL. There are a lot of shows I would like to watch but I just don’t have the time

What are your favorite genres to read? Why?

Paranormal romance is my favorite, especially YA PNR. I feel like they elaborate more on the story without all the extra drama or sex that adult novels bring. I do like some steamy stuff but it needs to stay where it belongs. I hate picking up a book that’s supposed to be YA and getting more than I bargained for.

Do you have a single favorite book/series?

This changes the more I read. I’d have to say my all time favorite series are the Eden Trilogy by Nicole Williams, Significance series by Shelly Crane and The Vincent Boys series by Abbi Glines. Those were the books that hooked me from the beginning and they are forever ingrained in my heart! My favorite standalone is In My Dreams by Cameo Renae

Blogging can be a little chaotic at times, do you have any tips or tricks for staying organized?

What’s organization? LOL I tell all newbie bloggers to keep a calendar of their schedule. As far as reading time goes, I read when I can. I would love to devote more time like I used to but sticking to a reading schedule is impossible.

Having had the chance to peek at the first chapter I know you’ve been working on a book in addition to just blogging about them, how is that going?

:::groans::: I wish I could say it’s going but it’s not. I had a little issue with losing some of my work and having to re-write it. I have a lot of it in my head but I need to find the time to add it to paper. My problem is working on the “fluff.” I want it to be the best that it can be but I’m always critical of myself and trying to make it better. I fear that it never will be. I wish I knew what tricks other authors use to get the deed done.
