“My life journey is like my playlist, amazingly unique but full of contradictions with surprising joys with every song…”

Why did you decide to become a writer?

I have so many stories in my head. It was only fair I share it to the world.

Who/what are your writing inspirations?

It could be from anything, the news, a conversation, a picture. Anything can trigger it

What are your favorite genres to read?

Women’s fiction, mystery, historical fiction and paranormal… anything but YA or NA

Favorite writing food / snack?

Wine and tea… I know, right. I can’t eat and write but I can drink!

What do you hope readers take away most from your writing?

Original stories with very different characters.

Who’s the favorite character of yours that you’ve written and why?

My French sleuth Sémya Slotin is the coolest, smartest characters I’ve ever created. I love her strengths but her weakness even more.

What is your writing style? Outliner/Planner or Seat of the Pantser?

I used to be a Seat of the Pantser as you called it but when I started to write mysteries I knew that I wouldn’t get anything done if I didn’t outline the story first. Now, I’m outlining everything which helps because I can outline a book months in advance and start writing when I’m ready.

If someone wanted to become a writer, what tips would you give to them?

Be patient and don’t follow trends. Write what you want to write about.

Have you ever purchased something from a late-night infomercial? If so, what?

The Ab-doer Twist! Those were the days…

If you could collaborate with any other author(living, dead, or undead) who would that be and why?

It’s a tough one because my style is so different. I don’t how compatible it is with other authors.

If you weren’t a writer, what would you do?

The perfect job: running a small magazine about books and movie, being a TV show host (a show about books or movies) I studied Digital Movie Production.

Coke, Pepsi, or?

Apple juice and cider, no chemical!

Is there a character that has the most “You” in them? Or the opposite of you?
Lucia Mpobo-Riddell the first character I’ve created. She’s a mix of my best friends and me.

If we lived in a Fahrenheit 451 culture, which book would you want to memorize?

I don’t think I have read this book yet but I’ll keep it in mind. Those are big shoes to fill.

Has anyone written a fan fiction based on your work?

Not that I know but I would be curious to read it.

An organised crime family looking for revenge.

A boyfriend with a mysterious legacy.

French sleuth Sémya Slotin is officially back on the case. The break is over.

“I’m Semya Slotin, yes this Slotin. I love wine, vodka, absinthe, my younger brother Aaron and my best friend Polliannah, in no particular order. When Josh Heinz and I are not too busy fighting or tearing each other clothes off, I solve mysteries. And I’m really good. I’m really good at a lot of things and people usually don’t see me coming… but here I am and I’m not going anywhere.”

It all started with a simple case…
