For this weeks Feature Friday we managed to nab a few minutes with the ever busy Author Dani Hart!

interview

Why did you decide to become a writer?

I don’t think true writers decide to become one, they just are. Words choose them and if ignored will make us go crazy.

Who/what are your writing inspirations?

Inspiration comes from everywhere for me. A lot of my inspiration comes from feelings. It’s hard to explain, which is ironic since I’m a writer, but the world emits so much that I take a lot of my inspiration from that. That’s where the inspiration for The Life of Arie series came from. Natural and organic.
A Firefighter’s Flame was inspired by actual events and experiences in my own life. I wouldn’t call it nonfiction since some of the story is fictional, but the protagonist was definitely modeled after me.

What are your favorite genres to read?

Fantasy and paranormal.

What do you hope readers take away most from your writing?

A renewed interest in the beauty of life, love, hope, and nature.

Who’s the favorite character of yours that you’ve written and why?

I think it would be wrong for me to play favorites among my characters. In The Life of Arie series I love Arie for her naïve vulnerability, River for his unconditional love and undying devotion to Arie, and Ashe for his rebellious unconventional display of emotions.
In A Firefighter’s Flame I love Lennox for her strength, Dean for his compassion, Braedyn for his raw honesty, and Kylie for her sass.

What is your writing style? Outliner/Planner or Seat of the Pantser?

Haha! Is that even a real word? I don’t plan anything. If it’s not there from the get go then it will be forced and unnatural and detectable by any seasoned reader. My stories all start with a protagonist and a world she’s immersed in and the rest comes from the unnatural firing of synapses in my brain.

If someone wanted to become a writer, what tips would you give to them?

Write first, then start building your brand through meaningful relationships, then write some more.

Have you ever purchased something from a late-night infomercial? If so, what?

No! LOL!

If you could collaborate with any other author(living, dead, or undead) who would that be and why?

I wouldn’t. I work too organically to collaborate with anyone.

If you weren’t a writer, what would you do?

I’m a mom and wife, but I’m also a realist so I am completing my post grad work to be a credentialed Math teacher.

Coke or Pepsi?

I’m not a big soda drinker these days. I mainly live off of coffee, refreshers, and green tea, and a little bit of water.
